Honest data policy. We do not publish market-share or usage figures for Chinese AI apps until they come from a source we have verified. The only market figure on these pages is CNNIC’s 515 million generative-AI users in China (June 2025, reported by Xinhua).

Why not publish usage shares for each assistant?
Published figures for Chinese AI apps vary widely by source and method. We will only publish numbers we can verify from a primary source; until then we test all six.
Do you use APIs or the apps?
The apps, because that is what customers see. Where an official API with web search is available, we may use it as a second check and say so in the report.
Which sources do Chinese assistants cite?
It differs by assistant, by question and over time. We record the sources cited in each answer rather than assume them — that record is part of every audit.
