GEO for makeup brands: be the shade AI recommends
Makeup prompts are about shades, finish and wear — "long-wearing foundation for deep skin tones", "mascara that doesn't smudge on oily lids". BeautyGEO turns shade ranges and wear tests into facts AI can read, and keeps them identical on every retailer.
What shoppers ask AI about makeup
What AI checks before it recommends a makeup product
| What the AI needs | Why it matters | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Shade range and undertones | "For deep skin" or "olive undertones" decides the answer | Shade count, depth and undertone data in text, not only swatch images |
| Finish and coverage | Matte, dewy, sheer, full | Stated consistently across site and listings |
| Wear and transfer claims | Repeated by AI — and challenged by reviewers | Test type and duration stated next to each claim |
| Ingredient filters | "Fragrance-free", "vegan", "cruelty-free" | Only with certification or substantiation, named precisely |
| Identical facts on every shelf | Shade names and counts drift between retailers | One canonical shade list pushed everywhere |
Claims watch
- US: colour additives must be approved for their intended use — some are not permitted around the eyes. "Clean" has no regulatory definition, so say what you mean.
- EU and UK: claims follow Regulation (EU) No 655/2013. The EU restriction on intentionally added microplastics (Regulation (EU) 2023/2055) phases in for cosmetics, with the longest transition for make-up.
- Wear claims: "24-hour" or "waterproof" claims need test support; AI repeats them word for word.
- For AI: a precise shade-range statement ("40 shades, 14 deep, warm/neutral/cool") is far more quotable than "for every skin tone".
